Bring six objects: toys, appliances, packaging materials, and other ordinary or extraordinary rubbish to explore Zaloom’s world of puppetry. Zaloom discusses object theater and invites participants to operate the assembled junk as puppets and environments. Zaloom shares how he invents his own found-object work, and covers improvisation, free association, humor, child’s play as process, the nature of objects, and puppetry in general.
Zaloom has taught at Cal Arts, R.I.S.D., the O’Neill Theater Center, N.Y.U., Emerson College, George Mason University, the Omega Institute, and Institut Internationale de la Marionette, Charlesville-Meziers, France, amongst many others.
