The Accidental Puppeteer, Journey of an Old Trout

Come hear how this veteran of the U.S. Navy made his way into one of Canada’s most prolific puppet companies. Discussion will venture into the mysterious realm of the Old Trouts and their remarkable work.
Peter Balkwill is a co-Artistic Director at the Old Trout Puppet Workshop in Calgary. He holds an MFA in Acting from University of Washington, and a BFA in Theatre from University of Victoria where Balkwill taught as head of movement. He has facilitated workshops in institutions across Canada and the U.S. An outdoor experiential educator for ten years in the Canadian Rockies, Peter is also the drummer of the boot stomping, hollar band, The Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir.
